In thermodynamics with radiation, or more precisely thermal radiation, we refer to one of the three ways, in addition to conduction and convection, with which heat propagates in space.
Radiation is the transfer of thermal energy between two bodies by means of electromagnetic waves. This is experienced by us every day, when we receive sunlight on the skin, or standing in front of a heat source, such as a stove or fireplace.

The most interesting feature of radiation is the transfer of heat without direct contact, that is, without means of propagation and also in a vacuum. This occurs for example with the energy of the Sun which, in the form of electromagnetic radiation, reaches the Earth along the interplanetary space.
Radiation is a natural and efficient heat diffusion mechanism, that modern technologies applied to meet a basic human need.
